I will help you learn to respond to fear, distress, and pain holistically to teach your body and mind to self-regulate. There are exercises you can do to give relief to your anxious mind and body.

In the last 20+ years, brain and nervous system research has provided us with beneficial information that helps us understand simple ways to help us get our bodies to a more natural state of calm.

Polyvagal theory is one of these discoveries that I share a lot because it offers a way for you to heal the anxiety programming ruling you and your body. This is self-regulation, where you can interrupt the painful symptoms you are experiencing to regain your ability to feel pleasure and enjoyment.

Through breathing, accessing the power of the vagus nerve in your body, and guided visualizations, we will give you experiences of redirecting your anxiety so that you feel more perspective and options. I will follow your comfort with breathing exercises and then lead you through polyvagal exercises where we easily sit and, with small neck and eye movements, access the healing power of your vagus nerve.

We work together to understand your nervous system and identify easy ways that you can monitor how you feel. We’ll apply day-to-day methods such as humming, connecting with nature, walking, right-side-left-side tapping, and music are some examples. We will tailor these to you and what works for you so that you feel that you can use them outside of sessions. These do not take much time or setup, so you can use them immediately to change the situation and give yourself more options.

But it’s hard to see when anxiety dominates your life.

When we work together, you’ll learn to access parts of yourself that make you feel whole.

You’ll tap into fresh ideas for teaching your body to relax. In a better state of regulation and calm, you will see that you don’t have to follow the thoughts of impending disaster, and you can interrupt them with rational thoughts that provide you with more options.

You will be able to take a minute and evaluate situations triggering your anxiety and look for evidence if the fear and doom are valid in what is currently happening. You will be able to break down situations to problem-solve what needs attention right now and not be so focused on what could happen in the future. You might also learn that sometimes doing nothing allows the situation to unfold and play out in a way that doesn’t affect you.
